It’s a distinctive scent. The leaves have changed from green to rust and have fallen and now live on the forest floor. Then a misty cool rain layers the earth and goes from dry to damp and full of depth. It’s an earthy, pleasant smell that only a full round of seasons can produce. There is a word for it—Petrichor, but we all know better as a feeling. Do you?
