The Studio

At Prospect Refuge Studio we are constantly in pursuit of the carefully crafted client experience while bringing beauty and quality into your home. What does a luxury design experience feel like? Through our thoughtful design process, we manage the execution of your design - to leave you with more time to enjoy it. We’ll be here to guide you through the seemingly daunting task of transforming your home into the space of your dreams, all while keeping reign of budget, timelines, and a singular end result.

We love to work on a diverse range of projects - from residential to retail, second homes to hotels, workspaces to worship spaces.

As a boutique design firm, we work intimately with a limited number of clients at a time. In order to make sure we are a good fit, let us share a bit of our process:

Our Process

The Consultation

Each and every one of our projects begins with a consultation where we get to know you and your home. This 2 hour, in-home, working design appointment is a great opportunity to tackle smaller tasks such as a paint plan, general space planning, or just to ask a professional your laundry list of design questions. For larger projects, you’ll leave with an understanding of scope for your project and a solid set of next steps.

The Proposal

After our consultation, we create a flat-fee design estimate for your project and walk you through every step of our detailed process. We’ll work with you to hone in on the scope, establish a budget, and determine a timeline. Once expectations are in alignment, we’ll ask for a retainer to reserve your space in our studio calendar.

The Design

After your contract and retainer are in order, we’ll schedule your project’s commencement date. This will be a full-day in your home to collect all the measurements, photos, and notes required, as well as meet on-site with any tradespeople necessary to complete your project. We’ll get to work on your design proposal (insert magic here) and you’ll sit down with us again in 4-6 weeks to review your complete design package. For larger projects, we include client/designer shopping trips and up to two rounds of revisions to ensure your project feels completely ‘you’.

The Execution

In addition to design, our full service team is here to simplify and streamline management of the entire process. Our turn-key service includes purchasing, receiving, storage and quality control. We also take care of all the details on installation day so that you can come home to curtains hung, light fixtures installed, furnishings delivered, packaging removed, and accessories perfectly placed.

The Team

Founder and Principal Designer

An award winning interior designer, Victoria founded PRS in 2015. After a decade of experience in the design community, she opened the studio as a place of creativity, taking on diverse residential and commercial projects. Victoria's approach to design molds to suit the site, the architecture, and the client - however her personal aesthetic may be visible at times and channels a childhood in the bohemian surf town of Santa Cruz and an architectural education in Copenhagen. A midwesterner at heart, she now lives in the East Isles neighborhood of Minneapolis, raising two well-loved children.

Through symbolic survival instinct and capacity to observe and engage we arrive at the concept of prospect and refuge.

Senior Designer

Before joining PRS, Carrie was the owner of Valentine Wood, an antiques shop in South Minneapolis. She brings with her a depth of knowledge and a breadth of experiences that range from photographer to sommelier. Her curated style and passion for authenticity transcend trends and convention. Recently married, she resides with her husband in a charming flat in the Cathedral Hill neighborhood of St. Paul.

Emily Hunt

Junior Designer

Recently graduated from the College of Design at the University of Minnesota, Emily brings with her a fresh creative energy and visionary lens. Though the Twin Cities have always been her home, Emily’s eclectic style pulls from places, people and moments that bring together old and new — vintage and modern. From living abroad in Florence to exploring the streets and corners of Minneapolis, she can always be found marveling at the fine details that bring aesthetics to life. She is a curious mind and old soul, excited for her creative journey ahead.
